Miller and two of her friends, Patricia Blough and Renee Bruhl, disappeared from the Indiana Dunes State Park in Indiana on July 2, 1966. The Illinois women - Patricia Blough, 19, of Westchester; Renee Bruhl , 19, of Chicago, and Ann Miller, 21, of Lombard - had been seen by different people getting on two boats that day, one a small runabout, the other considerably larger.Extensive searches were conducted, and wallets, $60 in cash and women's identifications were found, but no trace of the women. In the mid-1990s, investigators checked a possible lead involving a federal probe of the horse industry, in which the 1977 murder of candy heiress Helen Vorhees Brach was solved. The investigation also solved the 1955 murders of three boys in Chicago.Though the girls, too, were linked to the George Jayne stables, that probe didn't provide new leads into their July 2, 1966, disappearances.Though reported sightings in Michigan and in the Gary area turned up in the years after the disappearances, all leads eventually turned cold, police said.
